Lizzie Borden Case
By: Yesenia Garcia
Lizzie Borden is a woman from New England who was accused of killing her father
and step mother with an ax. She was tried for the killing of Andrew Jackson Borden and Abby
Dufree Grey. Nobody else was accused of the trial. They still haven’t solved this crime. This
case has been open since the 1880s. The murder happened on August 4 of 1892. She is well
known for this story because of the gruesome murder.
Andrew Borden had gone to the Fall River to do some errands. When he came home
he was murdered. Supposedly, Lizzie took an ax and took 12 blows to her father’s head. He was
sleeping on the sofa. Her step mother was next. She took 42 blows to the head. The well known
motive for Lizzie to do is because her father decapitated her pigeons. Right now, her house is an
attraction in England. It is well known to be haunted because her father, mother and Lizzie’s soul
still might be trapped.Sigmund App
By: Tyler Parker
I found a weird article the other day on CNN. It basically told about an app for the iPhone
called Sigmund that allows you to “program” your dreams. To use the app, you type in the time you
normally go to bed and when you are planning to wake up. Then you select some keywords out of a
list like “mountain” or “jungle.” The app then makes an estimate on when you are most likely to be
dreaming and will say the keywords you selected in a robotic voice. You have to be careful about what
keywords you choose, though. Picking words like “combat” and “battle” could result in nightmares.
About 40% of people claim that this app has altered their dreams in some way, but this number could be
higher because sometimes it is difficult to remember your dreams. The creators of this app think that it
may be possible for people to learn things and to study while they sleep as well. Take that, algebra.http://whatsnext.blogs.cnn.com/2012/04/17/iphone-app-aims-to-program-your-dreams-

Google is by far the most used and heard of search engine everyone has used Google. Google
lets you to be able to search on the web for basically anything from music to news or even
research on a biology paper or something like that. The name “Google” originated from a
misspelling of “googol,”[which refers to the number represented by a 1 followed by one-hundred
zeros. Page and Brin write in their original paper on Page Rank: “We chose our systems name,
Google, because it is a common spelling of googol, or 10 and fits well with our goal of building
very large-scale search engines.1995 Larry Page and Sergey Brin meet at Stanford. 1996 Larry

engine called BackRub.http://www.google.com/about/company/history/ In December of 1998
PC Magazine wrote: “The 25 million pages currently catalogued seem to be good choices. The

that Google had made its mark as one off the Top 100 websites for 1998.http://www.webhostingreport.com/learn/google.html
History of Florida
By: Ryan Williams
There is a lot of History of Florida. Florida came around about 14,000 years ago. The history of Florida can be traced back to when the first Native Americans began to inhabit the peninsula as early as 14,000 years ago. They left behind artifacts and archeological evidence. Early written history begins with the arrival of Europeans to Florida beginning with the famous Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León in 1513. Two decades later in the year 1845 Florida was admitted to the union as the 27th US state. The first people came to Florida about 12,000 years ago. Today most Floridians study the history of Florida. The nickname of Florida is called The Sunshine State. 80% of Florida’s Citrus grows here in Florida. Agriculture is another leading industry in the Sunshine State. Citrus including oranges grape fruit and some specialty fruits have been grown commercially in Florida since the mid-19th century. After Brazil Florida is the world’s biggest orange producer and more grape fruit are grown in the state than anywhere else on the planet. There has been a lot of History of Florida and Florida might have a lot of History to continue on.

Holocaust
Written By : Dominique Benson
American Indians experienced massive losses of lives, land,
and culture from European contact and colonization resulting
in a long legacy of chronic trauma and unresolved grief across
generations. This phenomenon, labeled historical unresolved
grief, contributes to the current social pathology of high rates of
suicide, homicide, domestic violence, child abuse, alcoholism
and other social problems among American Indians. The present
paper describes the concept of historical unresolved grief and
historical trauma among American Indians, outlining the historical
as well as present social and political forces which exacerbate it.
The abundant literature on Jewish Holocaust survivors and their
children is used to delineate the intergenerational transmission
of trauma, grief, and the survivor’s child complex. Interventions
based on traditional American Indian ceremonies and modern
western treatment modalities for grieving and healing of those
losses are described.Crystal Benson

Walter Elias Disney was the fourth son of Elias Disney, a peripatetic carpenter, farmer, and building contractor, and his wife, Flora Call, who had been a public a public school teacher. When Walt was a little more than an infant, the family moved to a farm near Marceline, Missouri, a typical small Midwestern town, which is said to have furnished the inspiration and model for the Main Street, U.S.A., of Disneyland. There Walt began his schooling and first showed a taste and aptitude for drawing and painting with crayons and watercolors. His restless father soon abandoned his efforts at farming and moved the family to Kansas City, Missouri, where he bought a morning newspaper route and compelled his young sons to assist him in delivering papers. Walt later said that many of the habitats and compulsions of his adult life stemmed from the disciplines and discomforts of helping his father with the paper route. I asked a few people what they thought about Disney World!
Morgan; Have you ever been to Disney before, and if so, did you like it?
Kasey; Yes, and I liked it because it was fun!
Morgan; Which park did you go to?
Kasey; All of them.
Morgan; Have you ever been to the Disney camp site and what was it like?
Kasey; Yes. It was big and had horseback riding, camp fires, and it was just really big!

Eric Patrick Clapton was born in Ripley, Surrey, England, the son of 16-year-old Patricia Molly Clapton b. 7 January 1929 d. March 1999) and Edward Walter Fryer 21 March 1920 – 15 May 1985, a 25-year-old soldier from Montreal, Quebec. Fryer shipped off to war prior to Clapton’s birth and then returned to Canada. Clapton grew up with his grandmother, Rose, and her second husband, Jack Clapp, who was stepfather to Patricia Clapton and her brother Adrian, believing they were his parents and that his mother was actually his older sister. The similarity in surnames gave rise to the erroneous belief that Clapton’s real surname is Clapp Reginald Cecil Clapton was the name of Rose’s first husband, Eric Clapton’s maternal grandfath Clapton was elevated to superstar status with the formation of Cream in 1966, and together with ex-Graham Bond Organisation members Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, he created one of the most influential rock bands of our time. Additionally, due to his close friendship with George Harrison, he was asked to play the beautiful lead solo on Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” on The Beatles (“The White Album”). Cream lasted just over two years, and shortly after their demise he was back with Baker, this time in Blind Faith. The line-up was completed by Steve Winwood and Ric Grech. This “supergroup” was unable to stay together for more than one self-titled album, although their financially lucrative American tour made the impending break-up easier to bear.
During the tour Clapton befriended Delaney And Bonnie, decided that he wanted to be their guitarist, and then joined them before the sweat had dried following his last Blind Faith gig in January 1970. He played on one album, Delaney And Bonnie On Tour, and three months later he had again absconded and finished up recording the disappointing Eric Clapton. Most of the previous band sessioned on that recording and three members (Jim Gordon, Bobby Whitlock and Carl Radle) ended up flying over to the UK to join Clapton again.

Cinco De Mayo
by: Ladashia Deshazor
Cinco De Mayo meaning “Fifth Day of May” is a well-known holiday
in Hispanic cultures. Cinco De Mayo comes from the Mexican army
victory in1862 over France in the Battle of Puebla. Cinco De Mayo has
transformed into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage. In Mexico
Cinco De is celebrated by military parades, recreation of Puebla and other
festival events. While in the USA is widely thought of as a celebration of
Mexican culture and heritage. This all started in the USA when Chicano
activists raised awareness of Cinco De Mayo in the 1960’s because
they wanted to identify with the victory of indigenous Mexicans over
European invaders during the Battle of Puebla. Today in the USA they
celebrate Cinco De Mayo with parades, parties, mariachi music, Mexican
folk dancing and traditional Mexican foods. Some of the largest festivals
are held in Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston. Cinco De Mayo is often
confused with Mexican Independence but Mexican independence was
declared more than 50 years before the battle of Puebla.
Me: When I say Cinco De Mayo what comes to your mind?
Bianca: I think of the fifth day of May and celebration.
Me: Do you celebrate Cinco De Mayo?
Bianca: No not really
Me: Do you know anyone who do?
Bianca: Yes one of my friends
Me: What do they do?
Bianca: Usually just celebrate with music and food

Easter marks the end of Lent, a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance. The last week of the Lent is called Holy Week, and it contains Good Friday, commemorating the crucifixion and death of Jesus. Easter is followed by a fifty-day period called Eastertide or the Easter Season, ending with Pentecost Sunday.
Easter is April 8. Easter customs vary across the Christian world, but decorating Easter eggs is a common motif. In the Western world, customs such as egg hunting and the Easter Bunny extend from the domain of church, and often have a secular character.

The Better Life Foundation (TBLF)
By: Rebecca Burnsed
In 2003, 3 Doors Down started TBLF to try to give as many children as possible a better life. TBLF has supported numerous charities nationwide as well as prviding aid and assistance to the Gulf Coast region of Mississippi during Hurricane Katrina. “…the charity was able to purchase three police cars and a fire truck to help with rescue efforts. Also, in connection with Wal-Mart, they were able to supply the town with three semi-trucks full of rescue supplies. There was also extensive support from TBLF in providing funding for rebuilding efforts in the town.” Source. 3 Doors Down and TBLF host a yearly show to raise money for the charity. Since the year 2010 the yearly show is held at Horseshoe Hotel and Casino, in Tunica, Mississippi, before that the show was at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. An average of sixty items are auctioned off every year with the proceeds going to TBLF. Past auction items include a Paul Stanley guitar played on the KISS Farewell Tour, a total of four Roger Bourget motorcycles, access to the Dale Jr. racing suite, NASCAR artwork by Brad Daley, numerous signed guitars and sports memorabilia.
Me: Have you ever heard of 3 Doors Down?

Me: Have you ever heard of TBLF?
Austen: Not until recently, but you have told me a lot about them.
Me: What do you think of TBLF?
Austen: They’re cool sounding.
Me: Do you want to go to a TBLF concert (or have you ever been to one)?
Austen: I’ve never been, but it sounds fun!
Me: Would you try to buy something from the auction to support TBLF?
Austen: Only if I had the money.

Area 51
By Ryan Williams
Area 51 is a military base and a remote detachment of Edwards Air Force Base. It is located in the southern portion of Nevada in the western United States 83 miles north-northwest of downtown Las Vegas. There has been lots of sighting of alien life forms sighting around Area 51 but there is still no proof about the sighting of the aliens or as we call it UFO’s. The aircraft’s titanium body, moving as fast as a bullet, would reflect the sun’s rays in a way that could make anyone think, UFO.The first known use of the area was the construction in 1941 of an auxiliary airfield for the West Coast Air Corps Training Center at Las Vegas Air Field. Known as Indian Springs Airfield and it consisted of two dirt 5000′ runways aligned Northeast, Southwest, Northwest, and Southeast. The airfield was also used for bombing and artillery practice, as bomb craters are still visible in the vicinity of the runways. It was abandoned after the gunnery school at Las Vegas closed in June 1946. Area 51 is the best and it’s the most popular unofficial name of the United States Air Force operating location near Groom Lake Nevada and the land area of the Nevada Test Site that it once occupied.Since that time, the parcel has been used and administered as a national asset. Because the Department of Energy is not now active there, Area 51 no longer appears on maps of the Nevada Test Site.Today that land area is used by the Department of Defense as part of its 4,120 square miles. Now would you take the chance to go to Area 51 to see and check it out or are you scared to death? Have you ever seen an Alien up close? Would you like to see an Alien up close? Well go to Area 51 for all of this.
Extinction of Gingers!
Redheads are becoming rarer and could be extinct in 100 years, according to genetic scientists. The current National Geographic magazine reports that less than two percent of the world’s population has natural red hair, created by a mutation in northern Europe thousands of years ago. Global intermingling, which broadens the availability of possible partners, has reduced the chances of redheads meeting and producing little redheads of their own. It takes only one red-haired parent to produce ginger-headed babies, but two red-heads obviously create a much stronger possibility. If the gingers really want to save themselves they should move to Scotland.
Why is the sky blue?
Almost all of us have asked the question why is the sky blue, but never get the real answer or a clear enough answer to the real reason. Well here goes the truth to why the sky is blue. To start this off you should probably know that even though the sky may appear blue in the day time it is really black as it is at night.
The difference between the two is that at night there is not enough light that is given off from the sun to the moon, that would illuminate the sky to make it blue. The reason for that is even though we see white light when the sun gives off its rays. The light from the sun is really made up of all the colors of the rain bow but blue in this case in the most dominate.
To elaborate this a little more; blue light that is in the sun’s rays bends more than red light. But this extra bending, or scattering, applies just as much to violet light, so it is reasonable to ask why the sky isn’t purple.
The reason for that is held in the atmosphere; before the light reaches the Earths surface to where we can see it interacts with the molecules in the atmosphere. As the molecules and the sunlight interacts it charges the blue light molecules more than the rest making it more observable to the human eye than all of the other colors in the suns rays.
~Sherone White
Interview
Sherone: “Kendal do you know the real reason to why the sky is blue?”
Kendal: “Um, I’m not really sure but I think its because the sun mixes with molecules in the atmosphere and then we see a blue sky.”
Sherone: “Wow , you are actually kind of right. The reason why the sky is blue is not only because of the mixing of the sun light with the molecules is the atmosphere, but also that the light of the sun bends when it enters Earths atmosphere. That is the reason for the sky being blue.”
Kendal: “ Cool I never knew that!”
Sherone: “Well now you know, thank you for letting me interview you!”
Kendal: “Your welcome!”
Lonely madness
On any given day, more than 80,000 Americans are in solitary confinement, also known as administrative segregation. The National Geographic Explorer series entry “Solitary Confinement” focuses on Colorado State Prison, a maximum security facility that houses 756 inmates in solitary confinement, some for decades. Prisoners are sent there from other facilities when they are deemed unmanageable.Administrative segregation is the toughest disciplinary tool in the American prison system.
Based on the concept of penitence and reform through isolation, solitary confinement was or the most part abandoned in 1913, largely because it resulted in more damage than penance. It is believed that isolation causes severe behavioral problems, and that the people most likely to be put into isolation are the ones who will be most seriously damaged by the experience. Isolation increases impulsive behavior it’s impulsive behavior that sends a prisoner to isolation in the first place.
It is difficult if not impossible to pinpoint the exact reasons why social isolation and sensory deprivation in solitary confinement situations causes mental and emotional breakdown in prisoners. However, in addition to the stimuli and interactions they are denied, we might also consider how people’s minds are affected by others controlling every aspect of their lives, from where they are and how long they will be there to how much food they get and when, to light and noise levels, to what possessions they are allowed to have, to when or if their clothes, bedding and rooms are cleaned, to when and if they get to have fresh air.

Joseph Kony: An Invisible Criminal:
Joseph Kony is a very devilish person. Kony is a Ugandan leader who abducts (kidnaps) children and uses them for child soldiers of an army called the LRA. Joseph Kony is responsible for many war crimes and crimes against humanity. He is the number one most wanted person in the International Criminal Court. There is a popular national video on YouTube and Vimeo called Kony 2012. The video is a documentary about Joseph Kony and what he has done in Uganda and how we need to stop him. The video has reached almost 20 million views. The man who made the video wants the world to know that he wants to “aim at making Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest.” The documentary has a special event coming up that everyone needs to be a part of on April 20th, 2012. This event is called “Cover the Night.” This event takes place at night. What they want you to do is on April 20th, 2012 cover everything in your town or any other place you can think of with posters and stickers all over the place. These can help make this terrible man famous. Everyone needs to know what this man has done. So I have one thing to say… MAKE HIM FAMOUS!
I interviewed a fellow student to see what she thinks about Joseph Kony:
Me: What do you think about Joseph Kony?
Claudia: I have no idea who he is.
Me: He is a Ugandan leader who abducts (kidnaps) children and uses them for child soldiers of an army called the LRA.
Claudia: Oh. Well that’s a horrible thing to do
Me: Yea it is. So do you think people should do something about this?
Claudia: Yes I do.
Me: What should people do in the community?
Claudia: Make him known because nobody knows who he is.
Me: So there is a popular video about this. Should people watch it?
Claudia: Yes they should.
Me: Thank you

First off, the illuminati are about how the government will be destroyed and a group of leaders will take over. It will be chaos. It would be Armageddon because of the illuminati. The illuminati is dark magic and Satan worshipping. There were rumors that some politicians are actually Satan worshipers and work for the illuminati.
There are some clues that stand for the illuminati. On the American dollar, the triangle with the eye is actually the symbol for illuminati. The triangle stands for power. The top part stands for ultimate anarchy. In some songs such as “Whip My Hair” by Willow Smith, if it is played backwards, she will talk about Satan and all these cusswords. She would talk about rape and how the illuminati will take over. Do you want to know why Jay-Z does the triangle sign with his fingers? It stands for the Illuminati. There have been rumors that Beyonce and Jay-Z’s new baby girl Blue Ivy’s name is an anagram for Eulb Yvi and is Latin for Lucifer’s Daughter or Born Living under Evil. The energy drink Monster, the 3 dashes, it can be interpreted as “666” in Hebrew.
The illuminati can be trying or not. We would never know. Some people believe in the illuminati and is very paranoid. The illuminati is really just wanting chaos all over the world. If you say you’re in the illuminati, you’re really just saying that you praise Satan. If this freaks you out, don’t worry because it probably won’t happen. But, you probably would never know.
M&Ms
Momma always said life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get. – Forrest Gump
Forrest Mars invented the recipe for M&Ms candy during the Spanish Civil War. Forrest Mars saw soldiers eating pieces of chocolate that were covered with a hard sugary coating. The coating preventing the candy from melting in the sun. M&Ms chocolate were first sold to the public in 1941, packaged in cardboard tubes. In 1948, the packaging changed from a tube to the brown plastic pouch that is used today. The letter “m” is printed on each candy with vegetable dye. In 1954, M&Ms peanut chocolate candy was introduced. That same year, they changed their slogan to “The milk chocolate melts in your mouth, not in your hand.” I asked some people on what they think about M&Ms.
Me: So Tabatha, what is your favorite color M&M?
Tabatha: Red
Me: Why?
Tabatha: Because it’s yummy and I like the color red.
Me: Ok, did you like the M&M commercial from the super bowl?
Tabatha: Yes, because it was funny.
Me: Am I boring you?
Tabatha: No, how could you ever say such a thing.
Me: Ok
Tabatha: So what’s your favorite M
Me: Blue
Tabatha: Why?
Me: Because I like blue, and it taste like chocolate
Tabatha: ok.
In the 1990’s Forrest Mars signed up to be a sponsor for NASCAR. In 1995, Forrest Mars ran a promotion in which consumers were invited to vote on which color including blue, pink, or purple would replace the tan M&M. Blue was the winner, and replaced tan in early 1995. M&Ms are a very good candy, and most people who have tried them like them, but people also don’t like them. If you haven’t tried them then I would suggest trying them.
“Technology, of course, is not the only distraction.”
-Jacqueline Glassman
Is Facebook a distraction to the educational process??
More than 53 hours a week a teen spends on Facebook and waste precious time that could have used on more beneficial things. Many people especially girls are starting to realize that they spend valuable time wasted on Facebook. Many schools that use a lot of technology such as computers, laptops, iPads and etc are banning Facebook off of the computers because it has become such a distraction. Many radio stations are even saying that Facebook is addictive and distracting. Being addicted to Facebook can also be a health problem; many students stay up for hours on Facebook not even noticing the time that has passed. Not enough sleep can lead to not enough sleep because the students will be distracted in class or might not come to school at all. This can lead to dropping out. There are plenty of other reasons why Facebook is distracting to the educational process. Facebook has caused many problems in the world to increase that is going un-noticed. Such as gangs, fights, suicide, hate groups, teen pregnancy, disappearance and plenty of other things. Now what do you think of Facebook?
Interview:
Ladaisia: How many hours do you think spend on facebook?
Yesenia: Two to Four hours
Ladaisia: Do you think facebook is a distraction to the education process ‘
Yesenia: Yea
Ladaisia: why do you think that?
Yesenia: Because it’s addicting and give you the news and all the latest drama
Ladaisia: Thank you for your time
Skittles!!
Skittles are small round fruit chews that come in hard sugar shells with the letter “s” printed on them, representing the candy’s name. This “s” insignia was printed in a very dark shade of purple (almost appearing black) from 1974 until 1988. Starting in 1989, the “s” insignia was changed to white. Modern Skittles with the white “s” insignia are similar in outward appearance to plain chocolate M&M’s, which are also produced by Masterfoods, a division of Mars, Incorporated. The inside is a white granulate and consists mainly of sugar, and a small amount of hydrogenated vegetable oil, fruit juice, citric acid and natural and artificial flavors.
I asked a student some questions about Skittles:
Q:What do you like the best about Skittles?
A: My favorite thing about skittles is being able to throw Skittles in the air and scream “TASTE THE RAINBOW!”
Q: What’s your favorite flavor?
A: blue berry because I like to be able to think that the Skittle is a little blue planet and I’m a alien about to kill all the little people on that planet. Sometimes I scream and act like I’m the people who are about to be eaten.
Q: What flavor do you hate the most?
A:Strawberry because it looks like a gumball in my opinion. I don’t like gumballs.
~Ok, Thank you for your time

A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It
should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the
meaning, all that comes later.
Stanley Kubrick
In this sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D, we catch up with young Sean Anderson, now a bit older and getting into all kinds of mischief. Sean’s mom and step-dad Hank try to pry the reason for his bad behavior out of the recalcitrant teen, and Hank finally manages to get the answer Sean is trying to piece together the mystery of his missing grandfather, Alexander Anderson who went searching for a mysterious island of legend.
Working together, Sean and Hank decode a message from Alexander based on the famous adventure tales of Jules Verne, Robert Lewis Stevenson and Jonathan Swift. Sean immediately sets his sights on the island of Palau, the next step to locating his grandfather, and Hank – trying to bond with the boy and/or exhaust his curiosity decides to chaperone the journey.
In Palau, Hank and Sean meet Helicopter tour guide Gabato and his daughter Kailani who is pretty enough to make Sean risk a flight on her rusted copter into the eye of a hurricane that just so happens to hide the entrance to the mysterious island. Once they are landed on the island, the party sets out to find Alexander and then, find passage off of the mystical land mass before it sinks back into the sea, taking them with it.
The film is filled with cheesy dialogue and jokes, one-dimensional characters and an overdone plot that offers just a few notes of genuine heart or drama but none of that really matters in this context. Kids will have fun with the material, and the adults accompanying them will be reasonably entertained as well.

The Grammys
The Grammys are one of the most important nights of the year; millions of people watch them to see their favorite person win an award. Adele got most of the awards, in a lot of categories while everyone else congratulated her. There were a lot of performances including Beach Boys, Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, and more. A lot of people were excited about this but got disappointed when their favorite people didn’t get an award. It was entertaining to watch the Grammy’s performances.
Some performances created a lot of buzz on twitter and facebook. They reached millions on the viewers. There was many people also at the Grammys, mostly famous music artists.
