Kari Jobe:
After being established as one of the industry’s premier worship leaders with her Dove Award-winning, self-titled debut, Kari Jobe continues to serve as a worship pastor at Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, and released her highly anticipated follow-up album, Where I Find You (Sparrow) on January 24, 2012.
Produced by Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin, Chris August) and Matt Bronleewe (Natalie Imbruglia, Josh Wilson), Where I Find You, which includes Kari’s new hit radio single “We Are,” is an engaging departure from her previous effort—both sonically and thematically speaking.
Rather than simply emphasizing the beauty found in God’s presence, Where I Find You is a clarion call for listeners to experience His presence to the fullest. And not
surprisingly, the accompanying soundtrack is just as bold with a buoyant mix of fresh musical textures and timbres.
“After singing about the importance of making time for intimate worship on my first album, I wanted to take the next step on Where I Find You,” Kari shares. “These songs come from such an honest place of. Praising God for what He’s done—and what He’s continuing to do in our lives—because of His grace and goodness”
Reporter: Do you like to listen to Kari Jobe?

The Better Life Foundation (TBLF)
In 2003, 3 Doors Down started TBLF to try to give as many children as possible a
better life. TBLF has supported numerous charities nationwide as well as prviding aid
and assistance to the Gulf Coast region of Mississippi during Hurricane Katrina. “…the
charity was able to purchase three police cars and a fire truck to help with rescue
efforts. Also, in connection with Wal-Mart, they were able to supply the town with three
semi-trucks full of rescue supplies. There was also extensive support from TBLF in
providing funding for rebuilding efforts in the town.” Source. 3 Doors Down and TBLF
host a yearly show to raise money for the charity. Since the year 2010 the yearly show
is held at Horseshoe Hotel and Casino, in Tunica, Mississippi, before that the show was
at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. An average of sixty items are
auctioned off every year with the proceeds going to TBLF. Past auction items include
a Paul Stanley guitar played on the KISS Farewell Tour, a total of four Roger Bourget
motorcycles, access to the Dale Jr. racing suite, NASCAR artwork by Brad Daley,
numerous signed guitars and sports memorabilia.
Me: Have you ever heard of 3 Doors Down?
Austen Rutter: Yeah, who hasn’t?
Me: Have you ever heard of TBLF?
Austen: Not until recently, but you have told me a lot about them.
Me: What do you think of TBLF?
Austen: They’re cool sounding.
Me: Do you want to go to a TBLF concert (or have you ever been to one)?
Austen: I’ve never been, but it sounds fun!
Me: Would you try to buy something from the auction to support TBLF?
Austen: Only if I had the money.
Me: Thank you for your time.
Austen: You’re welcome!
The Wanted
The Wanted is a British-Irish boy band. The reason why they are called that is because 4 of the boys are British. However, one of the boys is Irish. The Wanted consist of five boys: Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker, and Nathan Sykes. Their first debut single, “All Time Low”, was released in July 2010 and was number one in the United Kingdom for one week. The Wanted is best known for their hit song, “Glad You Came”, which reached number one in the top 40 hit songs. The Wanted formed in 2009 when they auditioned by Jayne Collins (who put together bands like: The Saturdays and Parade). The Wanted was nominated for 10 awards including: Best Newcomer, Best Group, Hottest Boys, Best British Single, etc. They won half of these nominations. The Wanted went to Brazil to support Justin Bieber and Britney Spears. I talked to a student about this group to see how she likes them.
Me: Do you know who The Wanted is?
Jordyn: Of course I do!
Me: So I guessing you like them?
Jordyn: They’re awesome!
Me: They have been compared to other bands such as: One Direction, Big Time Rush, etc. So you think that they could ever be as popular as these bands?
Jordyn: Maybe. I don’t know.
Me: Well thank you for your time!
Jordyn: You’re Welcome.

Mac Miller
Written By: Austin Eager
Coming on the scene with a throwback style, Pittsburgh-based rapper Mac Miller had just turned 18
when he spent 2010 making his name through mix tapes and video sharing websites. Born Malcolm
McCormick, Miller first used the alias “Easy Mac”, a name referenced on his debut mix tape, 2007’s But
My Mackin’ Ain’t Easy. His K.I.D.S. mix tape became his breakthrough when it was released in August
of 2010, earning plenty of attention from hip-hop blogs and landing Miller a recording contract with
Rostrum Records. Rostrum released his debut EP On and On and Beyond in 2011.
“My overall goal is to be able to speak and connect with the world. It’s a pretty big goal to set for myself,
but with what I’m seeing right now and the path that I’m going on, I think that I can do it because I have
experience with all different backgrounds and genres of music. I’m trying to have it where your straight
trap dudes are listening to [my] music, as well as your straight hip-hop heads and people who listen to
the Beatles, and Led Zeppelin, and the Sex Pistols,” Miller said.

Rascal Flatts! ♥
By: Morgan Thompson
There are three members in the band: Gary LeVox, Joe Don Rooney, and
Jay DeMarcus. Rascal Flatts got their band name when they were playing
at a bar in Nashville. They told the small audience that they needed a good
band name because they didn’t like the name they currently had “Okla-
hio”. They got that name from combining their home towns (Oklahoma and
Ohio). After the show was over, a man came up to Gary LeVox and told
him that he used to have a band named “Rascal Flatts”, and that should be
the name for Gary, Jay, and Joe Don. Rascal Flatts has been together as
a band, for about ten years. They have sold about 19 million albums since
their debut in 2000. In my opinion, I think that Rascal Flatts is a great band,
and they have some really great music. I love to listen to them, and they
are such an inspiration to me! I talked to a few other students to see what
they have to say about this band.
Morgan; Have you ever heard of the band, Rascal Flatts?
Tabatha; Yeah.
Morgan; Do you like their music?
Tabatha; Kind of, it’s not my favorite.
Morgan; Would you ever go to one of their concerts if you had a free ticket?
Tabatha; No because I don’t like concerts really.
Morgan; Have you ever heard of the band, Rascal Flatts?
Kelsey; Yes.
Morgan; Do you like their music?
Kelsey; Yes.
Morgan; Would you ever go to one of their concerts if you had a free ticket?
Kelsey; Yes.

I asked some people what they think about Metallica.

Me: What is your favorite album by them?

Factoring in millions of people when I’m writing a song is not a good idea. I don’t ever do it.
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift
Taylor Alison Swift was born December 13, 1989, she is an American country pop singer-songwriter, musician and actress. In 2006, she released her debut single “Tim McGraw“, then her self-titled debut album, which was subsequently certified multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. In November 2008, Swift released her second album, Fearless, and the recording earned Swift four Grammy Awards, including the Album of the Year, at the 52nd Grammy Awards. Fearless and Taylor Swift finished 2008 at number-three and number-six respectively, with sales of 2.1 and 1.5 million.
Fearless topped the Billboard 200 for 11 non-consecutive weeks.Swift was named Artist of the Year by Billboard Magazinein 2009. Swift released her third album Speak Now on October 25, 2010, which sold 1,047,000 copies in its first week. From this album, her song “Mean” was awarded Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance at the 54th Grammy Awards.
Chameleon Circuit
Chameleon Circuit is a band that is known for writing music that is inspired by the British Television Show known as Doctor Who. The band is made up entirely of YouTube members who are also (of course) Doctor Who fans. Alex Day, Charlie McDonnell, Liam Dryden, Ed Blann, and Michael Aranda are the current members of Chameleon Circuit.
On June 1, 2009 they released their first album (named Chameleon Circuit) the genre of the album is called “Timelord Rock” or “Trock” for short. The songs on this album are:
- Gallifreyan History 101
- Shipwrecked
- Type 40
- Blink
- K9’s Lament
- We are the Darleks
- Exterminate Regenerate
- Friends of the Ood
- An Awful Lot of Running
In January of 2011 the band’s second album (Still Got Legs) was released. This album is much larger, with more songs than on the first. It was named after the Eleventh Doctor’s exclamation after his regeneration. A few of the songs on this album are:
- Big Bang Two
- Kiss The Girl
- Regenerate Me
- Mr. Pond
- Everything is Ending
- Still Not Ginger
- The Doctor is Dying
- Nightmares
- Teenage Rebel
10. Traveling Man
11. The Sound of Drums
That isn’t all of the songs on Still Got Legs but it is about half of them.
“With the knowledge that the content is about Doctor Who, some viewers that disliked the show were hesitant about the album, but because the members are musically talented, it can be enjoyed by anyone who likes decent music, but if you do like Doctor Who, it is cool to hear the references in the songs.” (Source Link)
Even if you’ve never heard of the show Doctor Who the music is still great. Some of the lyrics may be pretty confusing though. The song that would be the best (in my opinion) for you to listen to as your first Chamelion Circuit song (out of the one’s I’ve heard) would probably be Nightmares, it’s the least confusing as far as needing to watch Doctor Who goes. Some of the songs (such as Big Bang Two) won’t make very much sense without seeing the show. Some of the songs are based off of specific episodes of Doctor Who (such as Blink, Kiss The Girl, Big Bang Two, and [probably] Shipwrecked [I assume Shpwrecked because I haven’t seen every episode of Doctor Who and I don’t understand that song. So I guess that it has a corresponding episode that I may have missed.] K9’s Lament is another example except that you don’t need to see one specific episode you have to have seen multiple episodes from one season) these songs will make very little sense to anyone who hasn’t seen the correct episodes.

Lecrea
Acceptance of the power of God in one’s life lays the groundwork for personal commitment to both science and Christianity, which so often have been in conflict.
Kenneth L. Pike
Are you a Christian person who loves music but can’t find a good style of music
that you can listen too?? Well I want to introduce you to Lecrea.
Lecrea at 19-years-old, at the encouragement of a Christian leader, attended
a conference and heard James White deliver a message that turned his world upside
down and showed him his need for a Savior. Shortly after, armed with a contrite heart
and new spirit, Lecrae printed his testimony and passed it out across the University of
North Texas campus. The next five years would include many struggles and victories
before he teamed up with Ben Washer to found Reach Records. Calling Dallas home,
Lecrae was content using his gifts of speaking and rapping while volunteering at a
juvenile detention center–but the Lord had different plans—so he soon began working
on his debut album. Pouring out a genuine discussion of life issues and a passionate,
unashamed pursuit of Jesus Christ, Lecrae released Real Talk. Listeners appreciated
his unapologetic delivery of biblical truths and transparent, relatable, and encouraging
lyrics.
As Lecrae continued to make his mark in the music industry, he realized the
stage wasn’t enough. There needed to be a culturally relevant and biblically solid
resource center to help train the next generation, so he co-founded ReachLife Ministries
in 2005. After extending Reach’s impact, Lecrae then released the groundbreaking
album After the Music Stops in 2006. Led by the
classic single‚ “Jesus Musik,” Lecrae’s
sophomore album gradually spread across the country with other hits such as “Praying
For You” and “Send Me.” Aimed at building an audience of disciples, the album sat on
Soundscan’s Christian Hip Hop/R&B chart for two years after releasing in 2006. His
follow up, Rebel, released in 2008, garnered even more success–becoming the first
Christian Rap album to ever sit in the No. 1 position on Billboard’s Top Gospel Charts
and spending 78 weeks on the Billboard charts. Having established himself as the
frontrunner of Christian Rap, Lecrae returned in 2010 with an album whose influenced
extended into mainstream media and culture. Rehab, arguably his most heartfelt album
to date, broke into the Billboard Top 200 Albums debuting at No. 17, while reaching
No. 3 on the Top 10 Albums chart on iTunes. With an offering of rehabilitation found
in Christ alone, Lecrae also maintained his established base, reaching No. 1 on the
Billboard Contemporary Christian chart and No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel Albums
chart. The impact of this album continues to spread across the globe, receiving
nominations for several awards including a Grammy for Best Rock/Rap Gospel album.
A graduate of University of North Texas, Lecrae now resides in Atlanta, GA with
his wife and children. His passion for impacting urban culture persists. With a musically
evolving and successful discography, nationwide tours along with the 116 Clique, and
a generation of young believers around the world inspired to live unashamed; Lecrae is
humbled by his position in the growing movement to spread the Gospel. His hope is that
Reach’s impact will spread far beyond simply the music and into the lives of individuals
across the globe, ultimately exalting Jesus Christ.
Look for his cd “Rehab” and listen to how great God uses him to spread God’s
word. For more information please look at his website at http://reachrecords.com/artists/
