Steven Stamkos

Steven Stamkos plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning. This season he had to most goals
in the NHL, and in Lightning history. This year Steven Stamkos became the first center since
1996 to score 60 goals in one season. He was the first player since 2005 to score 60. The
Lightning GM also is on the list of 60-goal scorers. One amazing thing about Stamkos is that
only 12 of his goals were on the powerplay. Powerplay meaning that the other team was in
disadvantage due to a penalty.

To be even more amazed, Steven had a shoulder injury for the last month of the season.
He had an MRI that revealed no damage, but to even play through an injury is hard to do. The
weird thing is that Stamkos didn’t even lead the team to the playoffs, despite having the most
goals in the NHL.

Steven Stamkos is only 22 years old, and has a lot to learn. He could possibly be the
best player in the NHL in the time to come.

Tiffany Hayes Drafted To The WNBA.

Written By: Corey Sanders

Today Tiffany Hayes is celebrating being drafted to the WNBA. She was drafted yesterday and is the
first Polk County woman to be drafted in the WNBA. She began her career at Winter Haven High School.
She then went on to play at the University of Connecticut. She was the second leading scorer on the
team averaging 14.6 points a game. She was also second on the team for rebounding. This is a great
accomplishment for Tiffany. This will go down in history. I always believed she was a good player but I
never thought her talents would take her this far. This shows young woman that they can do anything
they want in life if they work hard at it, just like Tiffany did.

History of Basketball

Invention of the game James Naismith was a Canadian physical education instructor at the
International YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts. In December of 1891, the director
of the school, Dr. Luther Gulick, asked Naismith to find a physical activity to occupy a “class of
incorrigibles”. Naismith may have had other motivations as well. Naismith wanted to create a game
of skill for the students instead of one that relied solely on strength. He needed a game that could be
played indoors in a relatively small space.

He wanted to keep his football players in shape off-season. Naismith saw the feature article
about the ball game called Ollamalitzli and the Mayan game of Ulama. He had also read articles by
a New Zealander called Tom Ellison who wrote about ancient ball sports that required a lot of aerial
handball skills. He took account of the hole that the round bouncy ball had to go through in the Central
American games, and the excitement of the traditional Maori game where a round flax ball was aerially
passed with speed and dexterity. With his supportive wife he then devised a game suitable for a gym.]

The first professional league was founded in 1898. Six teams took part in the National Basketball
League, and the first champions were the Trenton Nationals, followed by the New York Wanderers, the
Bristol Pile Drivers and the Camden Electrics. The league was abandoned in 1904.[4] Then, many small
championships were organized, but most of them were not as important as some teams who played for
money against challengers.

The Chicago bulls are home to the famous point guard Derreck Rose. The Chicago Bulls

are 45-15 which means they have won 45 games and lost 15. They recently won a game against the Miami Heat and a game against the Knicks. There are 1st in their division right now with an 8
game lead over Indiana. They are the best team in the N.B.A. right now and have a good chance
to win the championship and add another ring to Tom Thibodeau’s collection.

The Bulls have been a competitive team for a while now. They have always given the
Heat a run for their money. The Bulls rival would be the Detroit Pistons. They have been a
competitive team and have been giving the Bulls a hard time making it to the N.B.A. finals. This
year the Bulls blew out the Pistons in the run for the finals. With the Pistons with a record of
22-36 and the Bulls with a record of 45-15, there is no question about who is going to make it to
the finals.

John Wall

As all of us with any involvement in sports knows, no two umpires or no two referees have the same strike zone or call the same kind of a basketball game.

John wall was 1st draft pick out of college. He was drafted by wizards in 2011. He was drafted out of Kentucky as a point guard. He is now the starting point guard for the wizards. He has an average of 14 points per game. Also, he has an average of 5 assists, 2 turnovers, 2 steals, and 1 rebound. He has the potential to be one of the best point guards.

He has a decent shooting form and can make a comeback when one is needed most. In a pick n roll, he is very shaky because the defender is always going under the pick and daring him to shoot. He is not a very good perimeter shooter but has gotten better. He is good at driving to the basket and making a quick lay-up. He also is able to drive and draw the defenders towards him and pass out for the open three-pointer. He is an all-round good point guard.

I believe John Wall will be a star just like wade, and derrick rose.

Me: What do you think about John Wall?

Austin: He is a good player but yet so young.

Me: What do you mean by “so young”?

Austin: That he still has a lot to learn.

Me: Do you think that he will get better?

Austin: Yes, he should. His career is still at his beginning and he has a chance to become a great player if he applies himself.

Me: Thank you.

Austin: Your Welcome!

LINSANITY.

Jeremy Lin is an Asian-American National Basketball Player, whose eruption in play has made him popular. Lin played basketball at Palo Alto High School, and did not receive a scholarship to play basketball at any college. He decided to go to Harvard. He then played basketball all four years and graduated in 2010. Nobody drafted him in the NBA draft, so after the draft he signed with the Golden State Warriors. It seemed as if his career was going downhill when the Warriors waived him. The Houston Rockets then picked him up, and then was again waived.

He was then picked up by the New York Knicks. The Knicks were desperate for players when most of their starters were injured. The Knicks put him in and exactly what they wanted occurred. Jeremy Lin Mountain had erupted.

Jeremy Lin had led the New York Knicks to even straight wins and even scoring 38 points against Kobe Bryant! His sudden popularity has created a name for himself, Jeremy “Linsanity” Lin. He also has many nicknames including, Linsanity, Super Lintendo, Just Lin Baby, Lispiration, Linvincible, and The Linstigator.

Me: How did you find out about Jeremy Lin?

Brett: I saw his debut on SportsCenter.

Me: Do you think he is a great player?

Brett: Yes I do, but he needs some work.

Me: What is your favorite nickname?

Brett: Super Lintendo!

Me: Thanks man!

History of Baseball

The popular game that gained fame as being America’s favorite pastime is none other than the brisk game of baseball. There are many controversies and debate that go with the origin of baseball. Cricket, Baseball, softball running games and rounders are believed to have taken shape from primitive type of community games. Even though the name has no clear relation many games were popularly played that somewhat resemble modern day baseball. There were different ball games that were known by amusing names like stool ball, goal ball and even poison ball. A few historical sources point that in the year 1700, Thomas Wilson who was considered a conformist leader in England condemned the game of baseball and a few other sports that took place every Sunday. There are interesting facts related to baseball. One of such reports come from David block who says that softball was the primitive version of baseball and dates it even back to 1672. It leads our curiosity to the game of softball. It is said that in the game, a batting player was made to stand in front of a target, a stool, while another player pitched a ball. If the batting player hit the ball and was caught in field by a player, he was considered to be out of the game. Also, somewhat similar to cricket, if the ball hit the stool where the batting player stood, he was again supposed to be out. Young men and women were known to indulge into the sport. The person who invented baseball is Abner Doubleday he invented it in 1839. Baseball started way back in the day and it still goes on today. There is so much going on in baseball right now and there’s so much stuff to do at baseball games and everything.

History of Soccer

Soccer can be traced to as far back as the Medieval period in Britain. The modern game of soccer originates from the formation of the The Football Association in London, England in 1863 based on multiple efforts to plan the different forms of the game. This allowed clubs to play each other without arguing and whichspecifically banned handling of the ball during open field play. After the fifth meeting of the Soccer Association, clubs had played by their own, individual codes and game-day rules had usually to be agreed upon before a match would start.

The first Soccer Association in the United States was the Oneida Football Club of Massachusetts, in 1862. It is often said that this was the first club to play soccer outside Britain. However, the Oneidas were formed before the English Soccer Association; it is not known what rules they used and the club wound up within the space of a few years. The club is often credited with inventing the “Boston Game“, which both allowed players to kick a soccer ball around along the ground, and to pick it up and run with it.

The need for a single body to oversee the worldwide game became apparent at the beginning of the 20th century with the increasing popularity of international games. The English Soccer Association had made many discussions on setting up an international body, but was perceived as making no progress. It fell to seven other European countries to band together to form this association. FIFA (Federation International de Football Association) was founded in Paris on 21 May 1904 – the French name and acronym persist to this day, even outside French-speaking countries. Its first president was Robert Guerin.

Who likes BBQ chicken?! It seems like everything on the baseball field is falling apart and things really need to be fixed up around there, help support the Cause! McKeel Academy Baseball Season is starting up this month and they are starting their season off with a chicken dinner fundraiser. The Wildcats are coming off a district championship from last year and hope to bring home another! The BBQ chicken dinner is only $7 and can be bought Friday, March 23rd from 12 P.M to 4 P.M. The dinner includes  ¼ chicken, thigh and leg, beans and slaw. and Ice Tea will also be available. If you are interested in buying a ticket(s) find any baseball player baseball . I interviewed Jacob Pfingston refering to the chicken dinner.

Taylor- “How many chicken dinners have you sold?”
Jacob- “I have only sold 3.”
Taylor- “Is the chicken worth buying?”
Jacob- “Of course! Every year the chicken is great!”
Taylor- “What will the cause help?”
Jacob- ”Well… We are in need of baseballs, fixing our dugout, and feild equipment.”
Taylor- “What would you tell people to buy the chicken dinners?”
Jacob- “Teachers can go get them on their lunch break!”

                    Basketball Season 22-1

The basketball team this year did amazing. They made history for McKeel Academy basketball. The season just ended and the record for this year for the regular season was 22-1. Sadly they couldn’t go undefeated this year. They lost to winter have high school but overall had a great year. Districts are now what the team is worried about. They start next Tuesday against either Santa Fe high school or Fort Meade high school; both teams have been beaten by our school. The districts this year will be held at Santa Fe high school. It cost $6 to watch them play, so come out and support your team.

Me: How do you feel about districts?

Corey: I feel pretty confident about it, all the teams in our district we have beaten twice.

Me: Do you think you’ll be bringing a district trophy home?

Corey: I sure hope so; our team has put in a lot of work in this year.

Me: Who’s the hardest team do you think you’ll face in districts?

Corey: I think new dimensions are a really good team and if we play them it will be a good game.

Basketball 15-0

The basketball team has done great this year so far. The longest undefeated streak at Mckeel

academy for basketball is five wins. Mckeel is currently 15-0, which is the best in school history.
They have beat 2 5A teams which also has never been done in history. On the ledger Mckeel
academy was voted most likely to make it to the Civic center for state this year out of all the
schools in the county. I think they are definitely going to when districts this year. The team
works well together and is great to watch. Everyone should come out to support them in their
next game which is this coming Friday.

Me: did you expect your team to do this well?

Jake: I believe in my team and we work hard every day to win.

Me: You guys are making history for Mckeel. How do you feel about that?

Jake: I think it is awesome! We beat two teams that no one thought we could beat.

Me: Do you think Mckeel will make it to the Civic center?

Jake: Were just going to work hard and see where it takes us.

Me: What is your team’s motto this year?

Jake: Get better. Every day in practice we focus on getting better.

Baseball Season

McKeel Academy baseball season is coming up! The Wildcats season is coming up  right after winning a district championship filled with blood, sweat, and tears to get as far as they did. So you know the 2011-2012 season is going to be just another great one! The team is doing conditioning right now through christmas break so if you have the disire to be playing baseball this year it would be a good idea to go to conditioning after school. Try outs will be January 19th-21st if you are interested in playing for the Wildcats this season. If you need more information or any questions contact any baseball player you talk to or find Coach Steele. I had a talk with my fellow baseball teammate Eric Green about this upcoming season…
Taylor- “Are you ready for this season to hurry up and get here?”
Eric- “Yes! After the show we put on last year i can’t wait to see what this year brings!”
Taylor- “Will switching districts effect the team from claiming the district title again?”
Eric- “I don’t think so, we are one of the very few teams that play with all heart. We can pull it off again this year!”
Taylor- “Are you hoping new kids will come and try out?”
Eric- “We really need new kids because we lost a lot this year, so thats a yes”
Taylor- “Who do you think the teams biggest competition will be?”
Eric- ” Fort Meade, hands down. They were last year and will be this year.”
Taylor- “Any advice for new players?”
Eric- “Just give it your all.”

Boys Basketball is in Season!

The McKeel Academy basketball season is starting up! The McKeel Academy basketball season is starting up! The boys had their first game in Plant City against Durant High school. Sadly it was a loss but it also shows much improvement from last season from what I heard from Evan Broom, “I am glad we hung in like we did against a 6a school, that is a big deal for us.” The Wildcats say they are ready for a great season and hoping to take home a district championship since they went down a division from 3a to 2a which makes the team a little easier this year. I talked to Seth Revolinski a fellow Wildcat basketball player about how he feels about the 2012 season.
Taylor: “How did you feel about the Durant game?”
Seth: “We played great the first half, I was proud. Then the second half didn’t look too hot.”
Taylor: “Are you glad you moved down a district to 2a?”
Seth: “Of course! It’s easier teams, we should go far.”
Taylor: “You feel a threat from any team in your district?”
Seth: “Our biggest threat is LCS and we haven’t lost to them yet.”
Taylor: “Do you think not being able to finish the second half of the game will reflect on your season?”
Seth: “No, there is always practice time to improve on stuff like that. That was just an off night.”
Taylor: “Do you guys play any more big schools like Durant?”
Seth: “We play a 5a school this coming Thursday which should be another challange.”

Mckeel Volleyball

Volleyball Player!

Volleyball season is now over. The girls had a great season this year. Nathalie Rosado got player of the year for their district. Are coach was also awarded the coach of the year. Our girls won districts but were unable to make it to regionals. I went to some of their games and they worked really well as a team. They had three seniors this year. They are: Kimmy Black, Amber Morris, and Kara Belasic. The team was well-rounded team and showed how good they were when necessary. The volleyball players could not of been this great if it wasn’t for their great coach Krause.

Me: Are you happy with your team this year?

Nathalie: Yes, this season was great and I’m proud of our team.

Me: How do you feel on being the player of the year for your district?

Nathalie: It feels awesome!

Me: What do you think your coach?

Nathalie: she’s a great coach and really improved the team this year. We couldn’t have gone this far without her.

Me: I know it’s pretty far away, but what do you think about next year.

Nathalie: Well we are losing some good seniors, but hopefully will just get better for next year.

McKeel Soccer

McKeel Academy girls and boys soccer season has officially started! Boys soccer went up a district to 4a which is a tough district dealing with one of the best teams in the county Auburndale and other great soccer teams in the 4a district. McKeel soccer boys said they are ready for it and think they can hang in with all of the teams in 4a. Girls soccer went down a district this year to an even tougher district 2a with tough teams like Lakeland Christian and Santa Fe. The girls also said there ready with all the seniors they have this year! Good luck to both teams this year let’s hope they can bring home a district championship! I interviewed Johnna Keene and Brett Bowman about their soccer seasons…
Taylor- “You excited about playing for your senior year?”
Johnna- “Yes! I can’t wait for our season with how many seniors we have.”
Brett- “I guess so, I’m hoping to get a .500 season!”
Taylor- “Who is your biggest rivals this year?”
Johnna- “Either Lakeland Christian or Santa Fe, we got to beat them.”
Brett- “For sure Auburndale.”
Taylor- “Are we looking at a district championship this year?”
Johnna- “We sure are going to try our hardest to bring one back!”
Brett- “Uh… We will try to get it this year.”
Taylor- “Are you sad it is your last year of high school soccer?”
Johnna- “Yes, very I had a blast playing for McKeel soccer.”
Brett- “Of course, this is my last year of playing soccer.”

Basketball Cuts!

Basketball made the cuts! The varsity players for this year are: Corey, Dwanye, Gabe, Evan, Richard, Shaquille, Seth, Mitch, Dalton, Kendal, and Jake. McKeel’s basketball team for this year has eleven players and three of them are seniors. Evan, Mitch, and Seth are the seniors for this season of basketball. This will be Evan’s third year on varsity and it will be Seth and Mitch’s second year on varsity. A lot of players are returning from last year, because only two seniors graduated the past year.

Since there are many returning players I think the team will work well together. I can’t really predict how far they will go, but they do have a good team. I think it will be a great season for basketball this year. I talked to Seth to see what he thought about the team.

Me: Seth, you made the cut. Did you doubt yourself during tryouts this week?

Seth: I just worked hard to show what I had this week and it was enough.

Me: Do you think the team has a lot more chemistry this year?

Seth: Yes, most of the players have known each other for a while. We are a team and we are a team on and off the court.

Me: How do you feel about this upcoming season?

Seth: I’m pretty excited. I think are team is good enough to win districts and go farther than that.

Me: How does it feel to be a senior on the basketball team?

Seth: It’s great. It’s my last year and I get to play with my friends.

Me: Anything you want to tell our viewers about this year?

Seth: It’s going to be great year and come out to support your wildcats!

Boys Basketball Season is almost here!

The season for basketball is about to begin. Tryouts start today after school and all last week. I’ve heard that the basketball team should do pretty well this year. They moved down to a lower division and will take advantage of it. They have lost 2 players from varsity, so the competition for making varsity this year will be tough. Basketball had a pretty good season last year, but with all the returning players and the fact that they went to a lower division I think that this year they will have a great season. I found one of the players to see what they thought the tryouts this week would be like.

Me: So what do you think tryouts will be like?

Richard: I think that they will be pretty hard. Gandy always pushes us to see who goes 100% and who doesn’t.

Me:  Are you worried that you won’t make the team this year?

Richard: No, there are only a few people who try out for varsity.

Me: How many people do you think will try out?

Richard: There’s always a good amount of people. I’d say about 40 will try out for both jv and varsity.

Me: Does this concern you?

Richard: No, personally I am not intimidated by competition.

Mckeel Football??

“McKeel Academy High School Football”. That’s something you never hear about around this campus. A lot of students would really want a football team so they have a reason to support this school. Other students just want to play for this school so they don’t have to play for their home school. Next year we should have a football team. There have been rumors and pretty much everyone is hoping we get one! In my point of view having a football team would really help this school and the spirit for McKeel. I had an interview with Brandon Armogum asking him about the football team.

Taylor- “Would you like to have a football team here at McKeel?”
Brandon- “Heck yeah! It would be great!”

Taylor- “Would you attend the games?”
Brandon- “Yeah, who wouldn’t go? Every friday night that would be my thing to do.”

Taylor- “Would it help school spirit?”
Brandon- “Of course people would love to rep their school at the biggest highschool activity in Polk County.”

Taylor- “Would you try out for the team?”
Brandon- ”No, i am way to small to be doing that!”

Taylor- “Would we have a good team?”
Brandon- “Not to start off but as we progress so will our team.”

Senior Night Volleyball!

Last night was the McKeel girls volley ball senior night game. They played the mulberry panthers and won the game with 3 straights sets. The three seniors who will be graduating played a very good game. Kimmy Black, Kara Belasic, and Amber Morris all played with intensity and the crowd loved it. With the victory almost in McKeel’s grasp the crowd was going wild. The crowd went wild the whole night as they cheered their wildcats on and especially their seniors. At halftime when they announced the seniors the crowd cheered the loudest all night.

How did you feel during the game?
Kara: I felt great, the crowd kept me going all night.

How did it feel to beat Mulberry in three straight sets?
Kara: It felt great, to have my senior night game be in a straight sets it was a great feeling.

How did you like the crowd?
Kara: Oh, I love the crowd they were amazing. They were the loudest I’ve ever heard them.

This will be your last year in your high school career, how does that make you feel?
Kara:  It makes me sad I wish I could play more, but I loved it while it lasted.

How do you think the team will be this year?
Kara: I think we will be really good, we have a lot of really good players on this team and I think we will go far.

You see the team winning districts?
Kara: Oh, of course we will. We have one of the best teams I’ve seen so far and in my eyes its district title or bust.

World Series: St. Louis VS Texas Rangers

It is the end of October which means that the baseball playoffs are almost over. If you had ST. Louis playing Texas in the World Series than props to you. ST. Louis barely got into the playoffs and the second they got in they caught on fire. With beating heavily favored to win it all Philadelphia the cardinals were looking really good. After beating Milwaukee to get to the World Series the cardinals are read hot. Texas on the other hand has been here before. They are making their second World Series appearance in the past two years. With beating Tampa again in the ALDS and then beating the surging Tigers, the Rangers are looking to take it all this year. Both teams look very good this year we will just have to wait till the world series start to see who really has what it takes to win it all this year.

Both teams had a different way to get here which one did you think looked the most impressive?

Adrienne:  I think Texas did because they proved that last year wasn’t just a one year thing.

Both pitching staff looks pretty solid this post season. Who do you think has an edge?

Adrienne:  I think that the cardinals do because their starting pitching has more wins this year.

Who do you think has the better batting?

Adrienne:  The Rangers, Nelson Cruz is a beast this post season.

Who do you think has the better fielding?

Adrienne:  I think that the Rangers do, because their out fielding is easily the best in the entire league.

What is your prediction?

Adrienne:   I believe that the Rangers will win the series 4-2

Cross County

“Cross Country: Other sport’s punishment is this sport’s love.” – Dayna Lantz

In most sports, coaches make their players run for punishment, but in the sport of cross-country,  athletes run for fun. The kids you see running around the school every day are from Mckeel Academy Cross Country. Some students think to themselves “Why would anyone want to run for fun?”, but our cross-country team seems to love it.  This week,  I interviewed cross-country runner, Dayna Lantz at McKeel Academy about cross-country…..
How is cross-country going this year?
Well I havent ran in any meets,  but the team is doing great!

How do you think the team will do in districts?
Well our district is pretty competitive , but I’m sure we’ll do great. We’ve been practicing hard and we’re ready (;

When is your next cross-country meet?
Saturday, I do believe

Who has the fastest time on the team?
Most likely Casey Brady

Is it true cross-country really gets you into shape?
No, running 5 miles a day doesn’t do anything for you……. I’m kidding it really does get you in good shape!!

NBA Lockout

The NBA is currently in a lock out. It means that the players can’t go to their teams and they have to wait until the lock out is over. It is on day 86 of the lockout and it is the longest lockout the NBA has ever seen. They are holding out because the can’t even split the 5.3 billion dollars in revenue between the players and the owners. With the season quickly approaching the NBA didn’t have much of a choice in what to do so they cancelled all of the preseason games. With the first couple weeks of the season becoming in jeopardy of having being terminated the owners and players are working diligently to solve the revenue split and end the lockout.

What do you think about the lockout?
Bacon: I think its dumb they just need to solve this already

Who are your favorite NBA teams?
Bacon: The Orlando Magic

Do you think the owners or the players will get more money when its all over?
Bacon: I think the owners will but the players deserve more.

The pre-season already got cancelled how much of the regular season do you think will get cancelled?
Bacon: I think at least half of it will be cancelled.

Do you think they could end up cancelling the whole season?
Bacon: I think that’s what it will end up happening but I’m not sure.

This September has been one to remember in baseball. Their calling it the biggest slump for playoff contender teams in the history of baseball. In the beginning of September the Boston Red Sox had a 9.5 game lead on the Tampa Bay Rays for the wild card spot in the playoffs. The same was with the Atlanta Braves who blew an 8.5 game lead on the St. Louis Cardinals for the wild card spot in the NL. With both team storming back and overcoming the two biggest leads for a playoff spot coming into September  this is what is considered to be the most interesting September ever in the history of baseball.

Who were you rooting for to make the playoff for the wild card spots?

Taylor: I was rooting for the Braves to get the NL and the rays get the AL.

The Boston Red Sox made history for blowing the biggest lead ever in a playoff race going into September, are you surprised?

Taylor: Yeah I’m really surprised. I didn’t think that they would actually blow it.

With St. Louis and Tampa coming in hot into the playoffs who do you think will make it the farthest?

Taylor: The Rays because they are playing the Rangers and they should be able to beat them easily after beating the Yankees so easily.

Do you think either one of them has a shot at winning the World Series?

Taylor: No I don’t think so I think Tampa could get close but there not a good enough team yet to win it all.

Who do you think will end up winning the World Series?

Taylor: I think the Phillies will they have to good of a pitching to lose it this year.

What is your prediction for the World Series?

Taylor: Phillies and Yankees with the Phillies winning it all.

McKeel Academy is off to a really good start this year, they are one of the favored teams in Polk County. McKeel’s golf team shot the lowest team total of the fall with a 149 on September 8th at Wedgewood Golf Course this year. So far the team is feeling good about how their season will turn out. Next week they host the Polk County Invitational at Eaglebrook. Mckeel and George Jenkins are the favored teams. Lets hope Mckeel will pull it off! I interviewed Bradley Slocum about it…

Taylor- ”How does it feel to be a part of the lowest team total in McKeel’s golf history?”
Bradely- “It is a great honor to be a part of that!”

Taylor- ” How do you guys look in districts?”
Bradley- ”We are favored to win, i hope we do!”

Taylor- “When is your next match?”
Bradley- ” Today, we play George Jenkins and Lake Gibson.”

Taylor- ” How do you guys look for next year?”
Bradley- ” We should be just as good if not better next year.”

Taylor- ” What is the teams goals for this year.”
Bradley- ” Make it to state.”

Week three of the college football season was by far the best week so far. This weekend was call road test weekend because a lot of top ranked teams on the road and in hostile environments. Oklahoma was on the road against Florida State, Ohio State was on the road against Miami, Tennessee was on the road against Florida, Auburn was on the road against Clemson, and Stanford was on the road against Arizona. Only one team after the week was over lost on the road and that was auburn against Clemson with Clemson snapping the auburns winning streak of 17 games that led the NCAA. Tennessee fell to the gators with getting -57 rushing yards as the gators won by 10. Stanford rolled over Arizona as Andrew luck threw for over 300 yards as the cardinals easily dismantled the wildcats. The Miami Ohio State game had two teams meeting that had both received major NCAA violations and paid the price for it. The game of scandals is what it was nicknamed but even with multiple starters out due to suspensions the hurricanes still easily took to the buckeyes 24-6. Then there was the big game, Oklahoma vs. Florida State. Florida State at first looked like it was up to holding Oklahoma but the Sooners pulled away in the fourth quarter to win 23-13.

What was your favorite game to watch last week?

Seth: Definitely Oklahoma vs. Florida State.

With it entering week 4 do you think there is a clear view of who has a shot at making it to the national championship?

Seth: Of course Oklahoma and LSU with Oklahoma winning it.

With it being road test weekend some teams fell on the road, was there any team that you were glad to see lose?

Seth: Yes, Auburn. I’ve never liked Auburn so to see their 17 game win streak snapped was good.

Most of the world is against Ohio State, so did you like seeing Ohio State finally getting embarrassed?

Seth: Of course! I hate Ohio State they finally got a little bit of their own medicine for a change.

Andrew luck keeps doing his thing and putting up the numbers to win the Heisman, do you think he is going to end up winning the Heisman.

Seth: Nah, Landry Jones is going to win the Heisman.

This weekend was the second week of college football and it was one that had its host of pretty exciting games. This weekend was the first ever night game at Michigan stadium as the Michigan wolverines defeated the Notre dame fighting Irish by a last second touchdown pass from Denard Robinson with two seconds left in the fourth quarter, to the exciting back and fourth game of the Georgia bulldogs against the south Carolina gamecocks that ended in a south Carolina victory holding off a late fourth quarter comeback by the bulldogs.  Even though the score was kind of close the game between Penn state lions and the Alabama crimson tide, it was a 27-11 victory by the crimson tide. Most of the top ten teams rolled this weekend, with Oklahoma being off it was LSU who ran through northwestern state 49-3, Florida state Seminoles took it to Charleston southern 62-10, and Andrew luck and the Stanford cardinals put up a passing clinic on the duke blue devils easily dismantling them 44-14. There were more impressive games including the 39-0 victory that the Florida gators pulled out over the UAB blazers.
